SUPPORT RESOURCES FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

For those who dedicate every day to keeping communities safe, there can be a toll, and it’s not always visible. Public safety is a challenging profession that can lead to mental health struggles – and those struggles cannot be left untreated. WZ acknowledges the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers, and we want to do our part to bring awareness to suicide and mental health issues.

Whether you’re on the front line, in need of immediate help, or in a leadership position looking to offer better prevention programs to help your team, this page will connect you to organizations who specifically serve the law enforcement community. Officers who are doing well should keep these resources in mind, and check in on their fellow officers. Remember: there’s no need to try and fix or solve their problems. What’s important is to be there for them and to listen.

For those who don’t want to talk, there is Crisis Text Line. Text BLUE to 741741, to connect with a trained crisis counselor who is willing to listen via text messages. The keyword lets them know you are in law enforcement somewhere in the country and need to chat. Crisis Text Line is free, 24/7, and confidential.

Suicide prevention is everyone’s business. You can be there to help a friend, loved one, or coworker.  Learn the warning signs, and if you or someone you know is struggling emotionally, it might be time to get help.

The National Suicide Prevention Hotline

The lifeline provides 24/7 confidential support for those in distress or need of help.
