A comprehensive 2-day program on opioids, opioid deaths and the successful prosecution of overdose deaths as homicides. Participants will learn the different types of opioids and opiates being used including heroin, fentanyl, prescription pain killers and more. There will then be a discussion on the effects of opioids on users, how they break down in the body and how they kill.  A key segment will explain the effects of Narcan and why users are still overdosing.

Brian Sallee

Brian B. Sallee has been an instructor for Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc. (WZ) since 2017.  Brian has been a police officer for over thirty-nine (39) years.  He started his career with the New Mexico State University Police Department (NMSU) and worked as a patrolman for over three (3) years.  Brian has been a sworn police officer with the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) for over thirty-five (35) years.  In his APD career, Brian has worked uniformed patrol, general investigations and over thirty-one (31) years as a narcotics detective.  Brian currently oversees the APD Meth Unit. He is cross commissioned with the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy.

During his career, Brian has worked in many various aspects of drug investigations, including assisting and consulting on several overdose death investigations around the country.

Brian received a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Science from New Mexico State University in May 1980.  Brian also obtained a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University in December 2009

Brian has co-authored two books, which have been used as college textbooks and as a resource for police officers around the country. The first book was co-authored with Alvin Sallee and is titled: Narcotics Investigations: Working and Surviving. The second book was co-authored with four others and is titled: The Methamphetamine Handbook: What You Need to Know. He has authored or co-authored over twenty (20) articles and training manuals.  Brian was an advisor on two different training programs on Methamphetamine for the New Mexico State Attorney General’s Office.

Brian has been a guest instructor at several universities, including New Mexico State University, University of New Mexico, University of Phoenix and Wayland Baptist University.  Brian is also a guest instructor at the University of New Mexico Pharmacy College.

Brian has provided training throughout the United States and territories for over twenty (20) years.  He teaches for various national organizations and has trained thousands of police officers from all fifty (50) states and several foreign countries.

Brian provides expert testimony in both criminal and civil trials.  He has also consulted on hundreds of narcotics cases.
